My Vision

"At that point in history, the technology was unprecedented.

Information creation and sharing changed completely, including information about food and dieting.

A new market immediately sprung up for advice about how to eat and what to eat.

Doctors and scientists competed with different brands of diets. Their prescriptions for how to eat became increasingly extreme and contradictory.

The public became confused by the mixed messages.

Soon, the comedians of the day were making fun of the indecision of the so-called “scholars” who wrote the books that continually contradicted each other.

A pervasive sense of cynicism took over.

What should we eat?

No-one, it was generally assumed, really knew."

--- (A big shout out to my colleagues over at Precision Nutrition for this passage) ---

Now, reading that, what year do you think that passage is talking about?

Early 2000's?

2011 maybe?

......

......

......

Try 1615!

The technology the passage refers to is the printing press, which is when the first market for diet books emerged.

400 years on, we seem as confused as ever!

"Should I eat low carb because sugar and carbs make us fat? So does that mean I eat high fat? Hold on, surely fat makes you fat? Does it even matter, it's all sprayed in pesticides and toxins anyway? Ok, I'll go organic, and vegan for that matter, look after those animals. But humans evolved eating meat.... AAAHHHHH!"

I imagine we've all had a similar conversation in our heads at some point!

And I totally get it. We have created an absolute minefield out of what it means to be healthy and how to do it. It's got to a stage where we are so caught up on a number of finer details that we've lost sight of the fundamentals.

I want to make things simple. My vision is to help you:

#MakeHealthaHabit

Now, I know that sounds boring, but hey, it's kind of meant to! And here's why...

What is a habit? It's something you do without thinking about it. Wouldn't it be great if you could be healthy without worrying and stressing about it, without having to always be highly motivated, drawing on all your willpower every day and commiting to crazy fitness plans every few months?! Wouldn't it be easier if you were just healthy by nature? Now that doesn't mean being a "health freak" - a term I'm happy to use having been labelled one many times before!

It just means being consistent at making better choices, always looking to improve and progress, being aware of what's important to you and why you are making the choices you are making, and being kind and loving to yourself.

On that note, I feel I need to tell you something important. You may feel like the world keeps telling you that you are not ok as you are, that you're not good enough, that you need x, y and z to be happy and successful. You need this shampoo for your hair to look luscious, you need six pack abs or a flat stomach to be able to look at yourself proudly in the mirror, you should eat this raw, 'clean' (what does that even mean?!) protein bar.

So I want to get one thing straight. Are you ready? This is a massive bombshell coming.....

YOU ARE AMAZING!

Yes YOU!

I don't care if you are a size ten or twenty, whether you can barely walk up the stairs or can run an ultra marathon, whether you prefer a pizza or a kale smoothie on a Friday night (pizza for me all the way!) - you are brilliant.

Do you know the odds of being here, alive, in this moment?

400 Trillion to one.

TRILLION! With a T!

Don't even ask me the odds of you being alive right now AND being here reading this!

But you've been given an incredible opportunity to live. To breathe. To enjoy this earth.

And whoever you are, you are already amazing. And you can be happy right now, exactly as you are, and you deserve to be.

My goal therefore is to simply help you be a little bit more amazing than you already are! My goal is to help you cut through all the noise and to be able to achieve whatever you want with your health and wellbeing in a way that is not only easy to do but, most importantly, easy to maintain for the rest of your life.

I believe living a healthy lifestyle should be enjoyable, should be easy, should be fun, should be free of stress and worry, should taste great, and shouldn't cost the world.

I believe our health is the most important thing we own.

On the night of my 18th birthday, my mum passed away after a 3 year battle with cancer. That was when I truly understood how important our health is. My journey has since led me here, to this moment with you, hoping that I can help you be as healthy as you want to be so that you can make the most of every minute of this precious life you've been given.

Committed to your health,

Phil Curtis
